We specialize in old and interesting paperbacks, including old mysteries and science fiction in both book and pulp magazine forms, literary fiction as well as a wide variety of non-fiction titles. We also carry a growing selection of antiquarian books and modern first editions (including many signed copies). We are always interested in purchasing collections or individual books of value (please contact us for more information).
Owner Don Powell has been selling books professionally for half a decade, since May 2010. After starting out as a book scout, buying books and then selling to book stores at a profit, Don accumulated enough valuable books through trade to begin selling online and later at an antiques mall in Springfield, Ohio. During that time, he started working for Blue Jacket Books in Xenia, Ohio. After working for the founder Elizabeth Svendsen (now the owner of Walkabout Books in southern California and an ABAA dealer), Don assisted the current owner Lawrence Hammer during the transition in ownership and ultimately transitioned himself, focusing full-time on his own business in the following years. Being an avid reader of literature, he knows the most about the fields of mystery and literary fiction.
Don studied both mathematics (with a focus in computer programming) and English (with a focus in creative writing) at Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio. A published author and poet, Mr. Powell still holds hope for a break as he struggles to find time to write while he caters to his second love - being a bookseller.
